About

The Angels are the team driving Car 999A in the NSW Variety, the Children’s Charity, Bash.

The 2011 Bash went from Baulkham Hills, NSW, up through central Queensland, across to the top of Northern Territory, and over to Broome, in the north of WA.

The 2012 Bash will be going from Balmain, NSW, again up through central Queensland, but a different route to 2011, and up to the tip of Cape York, to Bamaga.

The car has a variety of names, including Heaven on Wheels.

Car 999A, Heaven on Wheels

Heaven on Wheels

The Angels’ car is a 1965 Chevrolet Bel Air, which was a hearse earlier on. The front of the car is a Chevrolet Impala, after the car and a cow met on a road.

“Heaven” is owned by Jim and Carole Lewis, long-time Bashers, who generously lend it to and support The Angels. One of the signs on the car says “Lewis Overtakers”, thinking of them!

The car is decorated with Bash flashing lights, using loudspeakers to play fun songs about angels or heaven! It is a fun vehicle!

More About the Bash and Variety

The Bash has been held every year since 1985, as a way of raising funds for children with special needs. Bash cars are pre-1974 cars, which are not 4-wheel drive.
