Preview from the Bash Bulletin
We grab a lunch pack and head off on the longest day of the Bash as we head to Tennant Creek advancing through monster properties such as Barkly Homestead and Austral Downs which is 1,000,000 acres in size!
Highlights along the way
The shortest route from Mount Isa to Tennant Creek is 662km (about 8 hours driving).
Today we have breakfast at the St Joseph’s Catholic School in Mount Isa. Lunch will be a packed lunch, also provided by St Joseph’s School.
The Austral Downs station has about 17,000 cattle, predominantly Santa Gertrudis.
Tennant Creek is 500km north of Alice Springs, and 1,000km south of Darwin, right in the middle of the Northern Territory. The area is known for the cattle industry, and mining. See the Barkly Tourism site for photos.
