We leave Derby via their historic wharf and set our sails for Buccaneer Rock in Broome where we’ll witness the STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN phenomenon that night.

The shortest route from Derby to Buccaneer Rock is 222 km (and Google says that would take about 3 hours).

Breakfast

Today’s breakfast will be at the Our Holy Rosary school in Derby.

Broome

Broome is a pearling and tourist town. The beaches, including Cable and Town Beaches are beautiful, with turquoise blue water.

Town Beach is a popular viewing place for Staircase to the Moon. Staircase to the Moon is a natural phenomenon which occurs when a full moon rises over the exposed tidal flats of Roebuck Bay. The Staircase to the Moon happens 2 – 3 days a month between March and October.

Population: 14,436 (up to 3 times more during tourist season)
