More rugged stuff on the Gibb River road as we head to Derby and DINNER ON THE MARSHES.
Highlights along the way
The shortest route from Mount Barnett to Derby is 308 km (and Google says that would take about 10 hours).
We’ll have breakfast in Mount Barnett before we continue on the Gibb River Road to Derby.
Derby is on the coast – we’ll be glad to see the sea after the long days inland! Derby has the highest tides in Australia, with the peak differential between low and high tide reaching 11.8 metres. Derby is half surrounded by tidal marsh at the foot of King Sound. The boab tree is a major feature of Derby.
See the article on the ABC web site about one man’s view of Derby.
