Helping kids be kids

We’re all about raising funds for the children in need who benefit from Variety, the Children’s Charity.  We do that by going on the NSW Variety Bash, finding sponsors for that.  Each team raises a minimum of $8,500 for kids in this way, and we hope we can do better than that.

The “Bash”? What is that?

It’s a road trip with a purpose, not a rally or race, but a bunch of pre-1974 cars, usually decorated with a theme, travelling to parts of Australia we wouldn’t otherwise see. While there’s a lot of fun and silliness, it’s with the purpose of raising funds for helping children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs to live, laugh and learn. Along the way we drop off equipment or grants for children.

Tell Me More About Variety

Variety, the Children’s Charity was founded in 1975 in Australia by the entertainment community, and since that time has extended, involving the wider community, raising funds for children with special needs. Every month Variety Australia distributes $1 million in benefits to children, for things such as special wheelchairs and play equipment, prosthetic limbs, Sunshine coaches to help kids with special needs get out in the sun, to children’s hospitals and so on. The Variety Bash helps make all of that happen.

Only 7% of the funds raised by Variety, NSW, goes to administration. That’s low for charitable organizations. That means that the money donated effectively goes to empowering children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs to live, laugh and learn.
