Welcome

It’s all for the kids, the kids who need a bit more help

We’re all about raising funds for the children in need who benefit from Variety, the Children’s Charity.  We do that by going on the NSW Variety Bash, finding sponsors for that.  Each team raises a minimum of $8,500 for kids in this way, and we hope we can do better than that.  With your help, we will!

We’re back from the 2012 NSW Variety Bash

We have come to the end of another fabulous Bash, from Balmain, NSW, to Bamaga, in the northernmost tip of Cape York, Queensland. We travelled over 4,200 kms on the Bash, over many rough roads, especially all of the corrugated ones on the Cape, and over 5,600 kms by the time we returned to Cairns.

We now have lots of memories of adventures, seeing more of this wide brown land (and blue blue seas), getting to know more of the generous and fun people who Bash to raise funds for Variety, and then seeing some of the results of that fundraising, with kids over NSW and Queensland benefitting from the Bash and the funds raised. Thank you to all the Bashers and the Bash Officials for making it all what it is. So many are deserving of huge thanks, including the MWs and all of those individuals who helped us all keep on keeping on. What an amazing time we had.

Here’s the map of where we went: tracking map.

The “Bash”? What is that?

It’s a road trip with a purpose, not a rally or race, but a bunch of pre-1974 cars, usually decorated with a theme, travelling to parts of Australia we wouldn’t otherwise see. While there’s a lot of fun and silliness, it’s with the purpose of raising funds for helping children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs to live, laugh and learn. Along the way we drop off equipment or grants for children.

Tell Me More About Variety

Variety, the Children’s Charity was founded in 1975 in Australia by the entertainment community, and since that time has extended, involving the wider community, raising funds for children with special needs. Every month Variety Australia distributes $1 million in benefits to children, for things such as special wheelchairs and play equipment, prosthetic limbs, Sunshine coaches to help kids with special needs get out in the sun, to children’s hospitals and so on. The Variety Bash helps make all of that happen.

Want to Know More?

See About the Bash or About Variety for more details. Or, go to About to read about The Angels on the Bash.

Only 7% of the funds raised by Variety, NSW, goes to administration. That’s low for charitable organizations. That means that the money you donate effectively goes to empowering children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs to live, laugh and learn. Thank you!
